Yinson together with Malaysia Forest Fund (MFF) and Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri Pahang (JPNP), has launched the Forest Conservation Certificate (FCC): Enrichment Tree Planting Programme at Tasik Chini Biosphere Reserve. The event was officiated by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), Tuan Syed Ibrahim bin Syed Noh, alongside Menteri Besar of Pahang, Dato’ Sri Diraja Wan Rosdy bin Wan Ismail, and witnessed by the Director-General of the Forestry Department, Peninsular Malaysia, Dato’ Zahari bin Ibrahim.
The initiative unites public and private sector efforts to support long-term forest conservation in the Tasik Chini Biosphere Reserve in Pahang, one of Malaysia’s key ecological areas. In this collaboration, Yinson serves as one of the key sponsors, with MFF as the coordinating and financing platform, and JPNP as the lead for on-ground implementation and forest management.
Yinson will finance Phase 1 of the enrichment planting programme, covering approximately 10 hectares within the Tasik Chini Biosphere Reserve, part of a wider initiative that covers about 20 hectares and aims to strengthen forest quality and ecosystem resilience through the targeted planting of indigenous flora. This supports long-term conservation outcomes and national conservation priorities, while demonstrating the role of private sector financing in advancing forest conservation and climate adaptation through FCC.
Yinson’s participation supports its climate goals and commitment to nature-based solutions. It also reinforces Yinson’s leadership as the first adopter of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) in Malaysia.
This initiative supports our climate targets while demonstrating how we invest in nature to drive real impact. Through the FCC mechanism, we support national conservation efforts and help protect critical ecosystems. As an early TNFD adopter in Malaysia, we remain committed to transparency in how we manage and invest in nature.
Dr Renard Siew, Group Head of Corporate Sustainability at Yinson
As part of the initiative, JPNP supports community-based conservation through the Buy Back Guarantee Programme, a structured mechanism enabling the Jakun Orang Asli community to participate in seedling cultivation and restoration activities. This approach strengthens local stewardship while supporting community participation and long-term conservation.
