Indonesia and Australia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on legal and sustainable forest products following a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the 30th APEC Experts Group on Illegal Logging and Associated Trade (EGILAT) Meeting in Shenzhen, China, recently.
Director of Forest Product Management and Administration (IPHH) at Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry, Krisdianto, said both countries share a common interest in ensuring that forest product trade remains legal, sustainable and mutually beneficial.

Krisdianto said enhanced cooperation would further strengthen forestry governance while increasing confidence in traded forest products through improved transparency and accountability.
He added that the initiative aligns with Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni’s policy direction to expand international cooperation in support of transparent, accountable and sustainable forest governance.
Through partnerships with countries including Australia, Indonesia is working to strengthen the legality and traceability of forest products, expand market access for sustainably produced timber and other forest products, and promote collaborative initiatives that benefit local communities while supporting forest conservation.
